From Jack Kerouac "On the Road.”
"Dean had already left. Carlo and I saw him off at the 39th Street Greyhound Station."

Justine had already left. He watched her drive away. She and Alan had cuddled under the covers for a long time that first morning. The morning after their 10-year "Just Friends” relationship had turned into something more.
The fresh, crisp white sheets and light blue blanket wrapped them up together. Their mutual heat would have kept them warm enough. Hot enough.
But, the shared cocoon made everything more real. More intimate. And more fun. Giggling. Imagining what might be.
And then the reality. It was, after all, a workday. A mutual shower. Lots more giggling.
A coffee loaded with sweeteners and milk in his 20 oz travel cup for Alan. A Rooibos tTea, “black" for Justine.
Breakfast. Sliced organic tomato and organic goat cheese for her. Toast with butter and Knotts Strawberry Preserves for him.
And then, Justine was gone. Driving her old red Toyota Corolla down the driveway.
He waved her goodbye a long time. Even after she was out of sight.
